Golden Era is the debut EP by Portugal's Rita Pereira, who, drawing inspiration from David Bowie's “Let's Dance”, the Wizard of Oz, and various country, folk, and indie rock sources, created the Rita Redshoes persona. Little did she know, when naming her debut album and stepping out from her role as backing singer in David Fonseca's band, the prophecy of the title – the record has sold over 10 000 units in its Portuguese domestic market alone, making it a Gold Record.
With her red shoes on, she can be magical and daring at the same time while staying true to both her singer/songwriter roots as well as her love of interpretation: covering some great classics in her live set and giving them a slant very much her own.
